LES BAINS GUERBOIS
 

Les Bains is clearly an institution of the city of Paris and of Parisian life. Thousands of people have amazing memories here, across generations, around the world.

What motivated me was to preserve everything that could be preserved, while reinventing it. It didn't have to become a museum.

For that, we shook up the topology of places. The fresco by Futura [Futura 2000, a major American street artist], which can now be seen on the patio, was originally inside the building. And then there was this “artist residency” which lasted three months, continues Jean-Pierre, which remains one of my fondest memories of Les Bains, even of my life. Urban artists from all over the world intervened directly on the walls, floors, facade of the building, in 2013, when the place was not yet open to the public.

The journalists we talked to said to us: "if it stays private, there's no point in writing about it ... But can I still drop by to take a look?"

 

As a result, we had monumental media coverage - Le Monde, Le Figaro, Les Inrocks, France 2 ... - even though we had done it like a frenzy. Les Bains came back to the forefront through the cultural pages of the greatest French press titles ... For some, in Paris in particular, Les Bains had been dead since the 2000s; the foreigners, who had not seen the fall of the place, remained for their part blocked on the myth which it represented. This residency allowed the public to understand that something incredible was happening again there ".

 

 1885, for the construction of the Bains Guerbois; 1978 for the transformation into one of the most famous nightclubs in the world (Les Bains Douches); 2015 for the metamorphosis into a hotel: I resuscitated the three eras, which can be seen even in the decor rooms, today, between Haussmannian accents, highlights of the 1980s and bathroom basins that transport you to the 21st century with a fragrance line dedicated to each year and story of Les Bains rich past of more than 135 years.

Les Bains Guerbois is an adventure that fascinates me. Straddling over three centuries, it has caught its breath like never before. A breath where exquisite and original scents mingle thanks to these great perfumers whom we invited in the last three years to translate the major dates of our house into fragrances. An eclectic, powerful and unique Parisian story.
